It's Friday again and today I want to show you one of the first steps I and other Interior designers have to follow in order to create a design for any space at all. It's called a mood board or more professionally, "a concept board".
You have no doubt seen tons of this on websites, blog posts (hello - right here), in short, on social media in general. So what is it. As you can see, it's pictorial and visual. A concept board allows you to see ideas in the shape of the products, the colors, the theme, the pattern, lighting, decor, how they all come together or work together cohesively for a space. That's why it's so crucial that we get it right. Because if we jump into designing right away it can be chaotic and lead to inconsistencies, which becomes a huge disaster in the long run.
For those who dive in right away without a mood board first, you can tell that it feels like you don't know what you are doing, or sometimes you go ahead and order products right away that you think you like only to find out that they don't match.
